Stinova’s Digital Media Server 5 (DMS5) software edition is a scalable, centralized multi-account / multi-user server application built to manage demanding enterprise grade digital signage environments using any supported browser. DMS5 allows to manage a multitude of Digital Media Player (Clients) connected to Digital Displays over IP networks. DMS5 simplifies the composition of content elements and provides easy to use customizable interface so that non-technical user can manage and operate a number of digital screens. Designed for the cloud - DMS5 is delivered as a VMware container for virtualized server environments supporting Enterprise class cloud computing based infrastructures on Windows or Linux-based servers. If VMware is not available we offer a remote installation service for DMS5 on any CentOS5 Linux based server.

What are the main characteristics that a modern, user-friendly and managable Digital Signage Software should offer today?
We feel that the complexity and overload of specific features might be a tremondous blocking factor for many customers within the SMB and Enterprise market segments. Most of the customers have not the luxury to assign dedicated staff for their daily Digital Signage network and content management operational tasks. Therefore our main focus when developing our DMS 5 Edition of our Digital Signage software was to provide the following basics:
A Online WEB-based Composer with PowerPoint-like WYSIWYG interface. It lets you free transform pictures, text, videos, flash and containers and arrange them just as you’d like. It is not bound by predetermined frames and layouts. This kind of design simplicity is what users are looking for, especially beginners.
Smart previewing. Just as PowerPoint has a “view slideshow” feature, our DMS5 digital signage software has the same, and shows what is actually going to be on the screen.
A modern interface. Offering a WEB-based interface give you the highest flexibility in terms of software reachability but is always a challenge compared to offering local fancy Windows applications. However, we have spent lots of design and engineering effort to provide our WEB-based interface as much as possible visualized for a maximum user-friendly management experience. Hover-over descriptions of each button provides usefull information.
Simple scheduling. DMS5 calendar view lets you figure out when and where content is scheduled. Users can select playlists they’ve created, check off which screens they’d like to play, then input specific times for it to play. Creating playlist queues with Drag & Drop features allows to build sequential queues of playlists in a predefined or random play-out order.
Exportable playback audits. For marketers we are offering metrics for the signage network. Various pre-defined reports can provide specific information with reports to show results for groups of screens, individual screens and pieces of content. These reports are exportable in .csv format for Excel and other common spreadsheet applications.

Main features of DMS5

Below is the DMS5 software package feature list. Dependent upon the license package, some features are only available with license extensions. DMS5 offers support for many hardware players including PC, STB, SVG, and SMIL but only PC-based hardware players support all the features listed below.
- Content Manager – allows to upload content such as Video, Images, Flash, Audio, Power Point from your local PC to the server repository
- Playlist Manager – Supports playlist formats such as Full-screen, Composer, Zone Playlists
- Meta Data Keyword Manager – Manages keywords for enhanced content scheduling (only in combination with extended Meta Data Client Access License)
- Calendar & Scheduler – Supports Scheduling with Weekly and Monthly Calendar views
- Player Manager – Controls all managed Players that are connected to the Server and provides email notification
- Group Manager – Organizes the players managed from the Server in Groups with Idle, Scheduled, Instant Playlist and additional Group Priorities
- Logs and Reports Manager – Creates Proof-of-Play reports and provides Error Logs
- Resolution Manager – Allows to manage any kind of screen resolutions for playlist creation
- Account Manager – Allows to create multiple accounts to manage multiple customers on one server (not available in DMS Lite package)
- User Manager – Create different users with different system permissions
- FTP Account Manager – For content upload and management of template-based watch folders
- Simple UI Manager – Allows to create simple text input masks based on Composer Templates
- Playlist Export & Import – Allows to export and import playlists from other DMS accounts
- Server load statistics reporting – Shows the load of the server activities incl. SQL, WEB Server, Network, CPU, RAM load
Minimum Server Hardware Requirements
The minimum hardware requirements are dependent on several factors of the Digital Signage system usage such as used content formats, update cycles, number of managed players. We recommend as minimum server requirements a multi core CPU with speed of 2.5+ GHz, 500+ GB HDD, 4+ GB of RAM. Operating System could be any OS that supports VMware virtualization or native CentOS5 Linux.
