Shell Commands
Shell Commands gives you more control over your playout devices without having to access them manually. Here we will provide with a tutorial on how to use these commands, as well as provide you with a list of commands you may find very useful for your system.
Commands such as shutdown or reboot can be executed directly from your server (incase there are any playout or memory issues), but the most used feature is the "Screen off/on" command. The command will cut off the display output, which will then cause (any modern display) to switch into power saving mode. This will increase the Lifetime of your display and save you power.
Commands:
* Set the volume to the highest value nircmd.exe setsysvolume 65535
* Mute the system volume nircmd.exe mutesysvolume 1
* Unmute the system volume nircmd.exe mutesysvolume 0
* Turn off the monitor nircmd.exe monitor off
* Turn on the monitor nircmd.exe monitor on
* Wait 2 seconds, and then save the current screen to shot.png nircmd.exe cmdwait 2000 savescreenshot "f:\temp\shot.png"

There are several locations you can trigger commands from (this may vary on DMX PE). The first location is in the main menu bar Shell Commands management where you can prepare a list of Shell Commands and name them. This is just so you can store your commands and to help you get organized.
For immediate transfer of Commands, you can either go to Playlist Management, or Group Management. Here you can select either a number of players or groups that you want to recieve the command. Once you have selected those, you can use the Shell Commands button to enter your command.
Either type in the command directly, or go inside your "Library" of previously prepared Shell Commands, by clicking on the Library icon next to the command-line.
To confirm you just need to hit Execute.
Next time the Player will connect to the server to check for content, schedules, and to send the current log files, (depending on set poll interval) the server will then hand the command over to the Player so it can execute it.
There is also the possibility to send commands in a scheduled manner. In Zone- and Fullscreen-Playlists you have the ability to choose Special Events, in these Special Events you will find the icon Shell CMD.
To see tutorials on how to create a Fullscreen or Zone Playlist, please choose your Server (DMX or DMS) in the sidebar, and then see the neccessary tutorials for the wanted playlist.
Once you have dragged the event into the timeline, you now have the option to enter your command and time it to your liking. This way you can automate a Daily reboot, or over night screen off.
A Shell Command can also be inserted inside a Zone Playlist.. Here you will have to create a small Zone and place it anywhere inside the screen (it will be transparent), next you need to enter the frame with a double click, insert the Special Event Shell CMD into the timeline, and finally hit the Properties button.
In Command you can specify the command which should be executed upon playout of this Playlist.
